Active Mobility Plan of Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region
The Metropolitan Plan for Active Mobility of the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte aimed to stimulate local and territorial sustainability, promoting improvements for the displacement of people in urban space by non-motorized transportation.
Among the proposals was the creation of intermodal transfer hubs and a metropolitan cycling network. The Plan’s elaboration is based on the guidelines from the National Urban Mobility Policy (Brazilian Federal Law No. 12.587/2012); the Metropolis Statute (Brazilian Federal Law No. 13.089/2015); and the Brazilian Charter for Smart Cities.
