The ten-yearly review of Canoinhas’ City Plan redefined the city through technical analysis enriched by contributions from citizens in participatory events.

The main objectives of the Plan were to ensure municipal sustainability and democratic governance, while also addressing the population's access to housing, infrastructure, services and public facilities.

In the end, some of the laws developed included: urban perimeter, zoning, land subdivision, road systems, building codes and conduct regulations.
